Two things separate it from its smaller sibling the SLR 5500. First, raw output and thermal headroom, for sites where a single station has to cover a large area or feed a demanding antenna system. Second, band coverage, since the MTR3000 spans VHF 136-174 MHz, UHF 403-470 MHz and 800/900 MHz at 806-825 and 896-902 MHz, so it reaches spectrum the 1U station does not serve.

What the Motorola MTR3000 does in a network

It runs the full spread of MOTOTRBO digital configurations, including conventional, IP Site Connect, Capacity Plus, Linked Capacity Plus and Connect Plus, and it also handles analogue conventional plus LTR and PassPort trunking. Dynamic mixed mode lets a single station carry analogue and digital traffic during a migration, so a fleet does not have to change every handset on one weekend. Two-slot TDMA in 12.5 kHz gives two simultaneous voice paths, which is the capacity argument for DMR: the same channel width does twice the work.

One behaviour is worth understanding before designing around it. In digital mode the MTR3000 operates as a repeater. In analogue mode it can be configured as either a base station or a repeater, and those roles are mutually exclusive at any given moment. Channel spacing is programmable at 12.5 or 25 kHz and the station is 6.25e compliant, so it fits both current narrowband plans and older wideband allocations.

Power, mounting and site engineering

The station is 5.25 inches high, mounts in a standard EIA 19-inch rack, and weighs 19 kg, so shelf loading and lifting are genuine planning items rather than afterthoughts. The integrated AC/DC switching power supply accepts a wide voltage and frequency range and can be configured AC-only, DC-only, or AC with battery revert. That last option is what makes this station suitable for sites that must keep talking through a mains failure, and its DC taps at 28.6, 14.2 and 5.1 VDC can feed ancillary site equipment from the same chassis.

Continuous 100 W transmit is a specification with consequences: plan ventilation and rack airflow for a station that will be producing heat all day, not intermittently. Antenna, duplexer and feeder losses should be worked out against the full output rather than a comfortable average.

Connectivity, monitoring and serviceability

Ethernet carries IP site connectivity and remote RDAC diagnostics, so an engineer can read station status from an operations centre instead of driving to a hilltop. USB handles local CPS programming, tuning and RDAC access. GPIO lines allow third-party controllers to be wired in, and a wireline tone or DC remote interface with 4-wire and 2-wire balanced audio connects the station to legacy dispatch equipment, which is frequently the deciding factor when new infrastructure has to join an old control room.

Serviceability is built around modular Field Replaceable Units, so a failed section is swapped rather than the whole station returned, and feature upgrades are delivered in software. The MTR3000 complies with TIA/EIA 603D, ETSI 300-086 and ETSI 300-113, is RoHS compliant and UL listed, and carries FCC type acceptance per band with a T7713A receiver designation. Standard warranty is two years.

Choosing the MTR3000 over the SLR 5500

Specify this station when the site genuinely needs its output, its 800/900 MHz coverage, its base-station capability in analogue mode, or its battery-revert power configuration. Where a site needs none of those, the SLR 5500 delivers repeater duty in a far smaller and lighter package, and rack space in a crowded shelter is rarely free. Both stations run the same MOTOTRBO system types, so the choice is about site engineering and spectrum, not about which features the fleet will get. Deployment in Saudi Arabia requires the appropriate regulatory licence for the frequencies and site in use.

Package Contents

rack-mounted MTR3000 base station

mains power supply

user guide

US mains power cable

A 3U MOTOTRBO station rated 100 W at 100% duty cycle, covering VHF, UHF and 800/900 MHz, with integrated power supply and battery-revert options.

[184
375

post-3657","product","type-product","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","product_brand-motorola","product_cat-mobile-base-station-radios","first","onbackorder","taxable","shipping-taxable","purchasable","product-type-simple
["GET
