It combines dual-band Wi-Fi 5, a 2×2:2 MIMO configuration, and 1.27 Gbps aggregate wireless throughput with an enclosure intended for outdoor pole or wall mounting. Its stated maximum range is 250 m, and it supports 100+ clients, making it relevant to facility yards, outdoor passages, warehouse edges, and service points where an indoor access point is unsuitable. An IP66-level rating when installed vertically and an operating range of -30 to 70 C establish specific deployment boundaries. Compared with indoor GWN7605, the LR version shifts priority from integrated appearance and ceiling placement to outdoor reach and external antennas.

What Grandstream GWN7605LR does on site

This model serves sites that need to extend wireless service into an open or partly exposed area from a fixed mounting point. It can cover a walkway between buildings, loading yard, branch perimeter, outdoor waiting area, or service passage after a survey establishes coverage direction, obstructions, and interference. Two external dual-band antennas provide 3.5 dBi at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, distinguishing its physical design from indoor units with concealed antennas. The 250 m maximum range does not mean every endpoint will see the same result. Line of sight, mounting height, surrounding materials, and client-device capability all affect usable performance.

GWN7605LR supports IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wave-2, allowing it to serve a mix of Wi-Fi device generations across both bands. Its 2×2:2 MIMO configuration covers the two bands, with MU-MIMO available at 5 GHz. Aggregate throughput of 1.27 Gbps can be shared across active connections, but it is not a guaranteed rate for one device. Support for 100+ clients gives operations teams room for dispersed users and equipment. A dense gathering in one small zone may still call for load distribution across additional access points.

Outdoor uses in Saudi facilities

At a warehouse or logistics center, the unit can be mounted on a pole or wall to direct service toward a gate, maneuvering yard, or employee route. In an administrative or educational campus, it may serve an outdoor corridor or transition space between buildings. Hospitality and retail sites can use it for an outdoor seating or collection area within the limits established by the survey. The -30 to 70 C operating range gives the project team a technical reference, while position selection still needs to consider the temperature at the mounting surface, sun direction, ventilation, and cable approach.

Up to 16 total SSIDs, limited to 8 per radio, can separate employee, guest, and operational uses. Keeping the published networks to the number genuinely needed reduces wireless overhead. Two autosensing 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet ports provide wired connectivity, and 802.3af/802.3at PoE supplies power. A compatible cable route can therefore carry data and power to a high outdoor position. Maximum consumption is 10.16 W, which should be included in the switch’s PoE budget alongside every other powered device.

Compared with GWN7605 and GWN7615

Indoor GWN7605 states a maximum range of 165 m and mounts on a wall or ceiling, with internal antennas suited to offices and visible public areas. GWN7605LR increases the stated maximum to 250 m and moves to an outdoor pole or wall with external antennas. The difference is therefore more than distance: it changes the installation environment, physical format, and likely coverage direction. For an office or clinic, GWN7605 aligns more closely with indoor placement. When the gap is outside, the LR construction becomes the deciding feature.

GWN7615 targets a different requirement. It supports 200+ clients and uses 3×3:3 MU-MIMO for denser indoor populations. This distinction prevents a team from selecting the density model merely because its figures are higher when the actual requirement is outdoor coverage. It also avoids selecting LR for an indoor hall that needs greater concentration capacity. GWN7605LR is balanced where outdoor mounting, moderate client load, and farther reach occur together.

Vertical installation and preparation

The unit measures 358.3 x 115 x 45.3 mm and weighs 500 g, so the installer needs a suitable pole or surface plus clearance for the cable and antennas. Its IP66-level protection applies when installed vertically. The implementation drawing should specify that orientation instead of treating the rating independently from mounting. The package contains the GWN7605LR wireless access point, mounting kits, and a Quick Start Guide. Teams can prepare the Ethernet route, PoE source, fixing points, and working access before the device arrives.

Commissioning should measure coverage from actual user locations rather than only beside the mounting pole. The team can review channels, band distribution, and client load during operating periods, then adjust position or direction if a weak area appears. The unit carries FCC, CE, RCM, and IC compliance entries. With those checks, GWN7605LR has a precise role: longer stated reach than its indoor sibling, outdoor mounting with orientation-dependent protection, PoE operation, and capacity suited to moderately occupied exterior service zones.

Package Contents

GWN7605LR wireless access point

Mounting kits

Quick Start Guide

A dual-band outdoor Wi-Fi 5 access point for yards, passages, and dispersed service areas.
