Overview
The TYT TH-UV99 is a dual-band analog handheld built around one practical idea: give a field team the strongest transmit power and the toughest sealing available in a low-cost radio, without asking them to license a digital network or learn new software. It transmits at 10 W on high power and 5 W on low, carries an IP68-rated body, and runs from a 3200 mAh battery that charges over Type-C, the same connector the rest of a modern site already uses. With 200 channels across VHF 136-174 MHz and UHF 400-480 MHz, one handset covers both a site’s short-range indoor traffic and its longer outdoor links.
What the TYT TH-UV99 does on site
Two power levels are the core of day-to-day use. On 10 W the radio reaches across an open yard, a quarry face or a stretch of highway; dropping to 5 W conserves the battery for a shift spent inside a building where the extra output buys nothing. Dual band, dual wait and dual standby operation let one handset monitor two frequencies at once, so a supervisor can stay on a site-wide VHF channel while keeping an ear on a UHF maintenance channel without carrying a second radio.
Channel selection is supported by a dot-matrix LCD, and each of the 200 channels can be set to wide, mid or narrow bandwidth to match whatever channel plan the site already operates. CTCSS and DCS tone squelch keep neighbouring users off the speaker, while DTMF, 2-Tone and 5-Tone signalling, ANI and PTT ID give a dispatcher a way to identify who is calling. An eight-group scrambler adds a basic layer of voice privacy on channels shared across a wide area, and a built-in FM radio receiver gives crews something to listen to during long static watches.
Where it fits in Saudi operations
The IP68 rating is the specification that decides most deployments here. It covers dust ingress completely, which matters on construction sites, in cement and aggregate handling, and across logistics yards through a shamal. The same sealing handles wash-down in food processing and municipal work, and rain exposure during the coastal winter in the Eastern Province and Jazan. Facilities teams in malls, hotels and hospitals tend to run these on low power indoors, where 200 channels give enough room to separate housekeeping, engineering and security traffic without reprogramming between shifts.
Security and event operations use the dual-standby behaviour differently: one band carries the command channel, the other a local team channel, and the radio watches both. VOX operation frees the hands of a driver or a technician working at height, and remote stun, kill and activate commands give a control room a way to disable a handset that leaves the site or goes missing, a routine requirement in contract security work.
Deployment notes
Type-C charging is worth planning around. It removes the proprietary cradle from the equation, so spare charging can come from the same power banks, vehicle chargers and wall adapters already stocked, and a lost charger stops being a lost shift. The 3200 mAh battery is sized for a long duty cycle at 5 W; heavy 10 W transmitting will shorten it, so fleets that talk constantly on high power should plan a spare battery per handset.
Every unit ships with the radio, a charger, the 3200 mAh battery, a belt clip and a manual, and carries a 12-month warranty. Because this is an analog radio, it interoperates directly with existing analog fleets on matching frequencies and tones, which is useful when adding handsets to a system already in service rather than replacing it. Transmitting on VHF or UHF business frequencies in Saudi Arabia requires the appropriate regulatory licence for the frequencies in use, arranged per site rather than per handset.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much power does the TYT TH-UV99 transmit?
It transmits at 10 W on high power and 5 W on low power, so a team can reach across an open site or conserve battery indoors on the same handset.
Is the TH-UV99 a digital DMR radio?
No. The TH-UV99 is an analog radio, which means it works directly with existing analog fleets on matching frequencies and tone settings.
How well is it sealed against dust and water?
The body carries an IP68 rating, covering complete dust ingress protection and immersion, which suits construction, quarry, logistics and wash-down environments.
What frequencies and how many channels does it cover?
It covers VHF 136-174 MHz and UHF 400-480 MHz across 200 channels, and each channel can be set to wide, mid or narrow bandwidth.
What is included in the box?
Each unit ships with the radio, a charger, the 3200 mAh battery, a belt clip and a manual, and carries a 12-month warranty.
