Grandstream GDS3727 Smart Door Station, 4MP, Wi-Fi

The Grandstream GDS3727 video door station carries the same 4-megapixel Ultra HD sensor and dual-frequency 13.56MHz/125kHz card reader found on the GDS3725, but adds dual-band Wi-Fi 6 running on 2.4GHz and 5GHz, so it can be mounted where a network cable is not close by. It uses the same FOV127°(H) x 70°(V) x 152°(D) lens and the same wide dynamic range up to 120dB, with a single doorbell key in place of the full numeric keypad. Its casing is plastic rather than metal, at a lighter 0.524 kg, with an IK07 impact rating below the metal model’s. Power comes from PoE (802.3af Class 3) or a fixed DC 12V input, with a different direct-current input arrangement from the GDS3725. It also carries a PIR motion sensor with a 3 to 5 meter detection range to pre-wake the camera, and ONVIF Profile S support for pulling its video stream into a third-party video management system alongside the Grandstream app.

The card reader accepts the same MIFARE Classic 1K/4K, Ultralight, PLUS, and DESFire formats for up to 5,000 IDs, and motion detection uses the same AI-assisted image processor as the GDS3725. The unit provides one solid-state relay access-control output, two alarm inputs and one alarm output, an RS485 port, and an SD card slot supporting up to 256GB, but without the Wiegand ports the GDS3725 carries for wiring into a separate access-control panel. Its Wi-Fi 6 radio supports 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax across both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, giving more flexibility in choosing a mounting location than relying on a wired network port alone. Security runs on the same Ed25519/X25519 encryption with 256-bit AES and TLS, SRTP, and HTTPS, with remote firmware updates over TFTP, HTTP, HTTPS, or TR-069.

A lightweight, Wi-Fi-equipped door station like the GDS3727 suits a location a network cable does not reach easily, such as a standalone villa gate or a side entrance on an existing building where pulling a new Cat6 run is impractical, needing only a nearby power source and a Wi-Fi connection to the site’s wireless network. The -30°C to 60°C operating range and -30°C to 70°C storage range, with 10-90% non-condensing humidity tolerance, match the GDS3725 despite the different casing. The plastic body and IK07 rating suit entrances with lower vandalism risk, such as villa gates or small offices, more than factory gates or public parking entries. Because installation does not strictly require a network cable, project timelines shorten on existing buildings where pulling new wiring through finished walls or ceilings is impractical.

Positioning against the GDS3725 and the rest of the family

The GDS3727 and GDS3725 share the same sensor, card reader, and AI features, but the GDS3727 trades the GDS3725’s metal casing, Wiegand ports, and two relay outputs for dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and a lighter plastic casing at a lower IK07 rating instead of the GDS3725’s. Against the GDS3710 and GDS3712, which carry a lower-resolution sensor, the GDS3727 offers higher resolution and AI features neither of them has, at the cost of the Wiegand ports the GDS3710 carries. The audio-only GDS3702 sits at the opposite end of the family from the GDS3727’s full camera and card-reader feature set.
