Overview
The Grandstream GRP2602 is a 2-line IP desk phone built for offices that don’t have Power over Ethernet on the desk drop. Its dual 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports carry no PoE and no Gigabit signaling, so every unit is powered from the included universal AC adapter through a standard wall socket. That single design choice is what separates the GRP2602 from the rest of its family: it needs nothing more than an Ethernet cable and a power outlet to register, which makes it the phone to specify when a PoE switch upgrade isn’t in the budget or the plan for a given floor. Everything else on the device — the 4 SIP accounts, the 2 physical line keys, the 2.41-inch backlit display — is built for the same practical, low-friction desk deployment.
What the Grandstream GRP2602 Delivers on the Desk
The GRP2602 carries 4 SIP accounts and 2 line keys behind a 132 x 48 pixel (2.41″) backlit graphical LCD, enough to keep a shared line and a personal extension visible at a glance. Voice quality runs across G.722 wideband alongside G.729A/B, G.711u/a-law, G.726, G.723.1, iLBC and Opus, and the HD handset and full-duplex speakerphone both carry wideband audio so calls in a quiet office sound close to natural rather than compressed. For staff who prefer a headset, EHS support covers Plantronics, Jabra, Sennheiser and other compatible models, letting the phone answer and end calls directly from the headset control. Day-to-day call handling covers hold, transfer, forward, 5-way conference, call park, call pickup, shared/bridged line appearances (SCA/BLA), a phonebook with XML/LDAP support for up to 2,000 entries, call waiting, an 800-entry call log, off-hook auto dial, auto answer and click-to-dial. Flexible dial plans and hot-desking let the same handset serve different users or extensions across shifts, and the faceplate is swappable for a fresh label without replacing the unit. Ringtone and music-on-hold support round out a feature set aimed squarely at a reception desk or a shared office line rather than a single executive.
Where the GRP2602 Fits on a Saudi Office Floor
This is the phone for the desks that make up most of a Saudi office floor plan: reception, back-office administration, customer-facing counters in government and municipal service centers, real estate and insurance branch offices, and clinic front desks where a receptionist juggles a main line and a direct extension. None of these positions need a Gigabit pass-through to a workstation, and many older or rented office spaces in Saudi cities simply don’t have PoE switching wired to every desk — a wall socket is the one thing every desk already has. For SMEs rolling out or replacing a phone system without touching the network cabinet, the GRP2602’s AC-powered design removes PoE infrastructure from the deployment checklist entirely.
Choosing Between the GRP2602, GRP2602G and GRP2602P
Within the same family, the GRP2602G adds Gigabit Ethernet ports with integrated PoE, which suits a desk where the phone also needs to pass a Gigabit link through to a PC and draw power from a PoE switch instead of a wall socket. The GRP2602P adds integrated PoE on its Fast Ethernet ports without moving to Gigabit — the right fit where the switch already delivers PoE but the desk doesn’t need Gigabit throughput. The GRP2602 sits apart from both: no PoE dependency, no Gigabit port, and a power adapter in the box, so it’s the model to choose when the desk runs on Fast Ethernet and mains power rather than a managed PoE switch. Mixing all three across one office is a normal way to match each phone to the cabling and power already present at that desk, rather than rewiring every position to a single standard.
Deployment and Management Notes
The GRP2602 supports encrypted provisioning over FTP/TFTP/TFTPS/HTTP/HTTPS, Grandstream’s GDMS platform and TR-069, with AES-encrypted XML configuration files, so an IT team can roll out and update dozens of units from a central console rather than configuring each phone by hand. Security on the signaling and media path covers TLS 1.3, SRTP/SDES-SRTP and 802.1X network authentication, backed by secure boot, dual firmware images and encrypted storage on the device itself. Server redundancy and failover settings keep the phone registered if a primary SIP server goes down. Physically, the unit measures 208 x 180 x 63.4 mm and weighs 670 g on its own, 880 g boxed, and it’s rated for 0-40°C operating and 10-90% relative humidity — standard indoor office conditions, not an outdoor or industrial environment. It carries FCC Part 15B Class B and Part 68 HAC certification, CE marking under EN 55032/55035/61000-3-2/3-3/62368-1, plus RCM and IC compliance. The box includes the phone, handset with cord, base stand, universal power supply, a network cable and a quick installation guide, so a desk with power and an Ethernet drop is ready to register as soon as it’s unpacked.
