Overview
The Grandstream GRP2602P is a 2-line IP desk phone built around integrated Power over Ethernet on Fast Ethernet ports, so the same network cable that connects the phone also powers it — no separate AC adapter, no extra outlet at the desk. Unlike the GRP2602G, it doesn’t carry Gigabit ports, and unlike the standard GRP2602, it needs no mains power at all. That makes the GRP2602P the model for desks sitting behind a PoE-enabled switch where Gigabit throughput isn’t a requirement: reception counters, shared lines and back-office extensions that only need a phone, not a Gigabit pass-through to a PC. The rest of the GRP26 series feature set carries over unchanged — 4 SIP accounts, 2 line keys, and a 2.41-inch backlit display.
What the Grandstream GRP2602P Delivers on the Desk
The GRP2602P runs 4 SIP accounts across 2 physical line keys on a 132 x 48 pixel (2.41″) backlit graphical LCD. Its dual 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports carry integrated PoE rated IEEE 802.3af Class 1 at 3.84W, so the phone draws power straight from the switch. Voice quality spans G.722 wideband along with G.729A/B, G.711u/a-law, G.726, G.723.1, iLBC and Opus, and both the HD handset and full-duplex speakerphone carry wideband audio. EHS headset support covers Plantronics, Jabra, Sennheiser and other compatible headsets. Call handling includes hold, transfer, forward, 5-way conference, call park, call pickup, shared/bridged line appearances (SCA/BLA), an XML/LDAP phonebook for up to 2,000 entries, call waiting, an 800-entry call log, off-hook auto dial, auto answer and click-to-dial. Flexible dial plans and hot-desking support multiple users on one handset across shifts, the faceplate swaps for relabeling, and ringtone/music-on-hold support complete the set.
Where the GRP2602P Fits on a Saudi Office Floor
The GRP2602P is a natural fit for Saudi offices that already run PoE switching in the network cabinet but don’t need Gigabit speed at every desk — government service counters, bank branch back offices, retail chain administration desks, and multi-line reception points where the switch handles power centrally and cabling stays simple. Removing the AC adapter from the equation also removes a point of failure and an extra socket requirement at each desk, which matters in dense open-plan layouts where power outlets are already shared among several workstations. For facilities teams standardizing on PoE across a floor, the GRP2602P keeps the phone side of that standard consistent without paying for Gigabit capacity the desk doesn’t use.
Choosing Between the GRP2602P, GRP2602 and GRP2602G
The standard GRP2602 has neither PoE nor Gigabit — it runs on the included AC adapter over Fast Ethernet, the right choice where PoE switching isn’t installed at all. The GRP2602G adds both PoE and Gigabit together, suited to workstation-heavy desks that need a Gigabit pass-through alongside the phone. The GRP2602P sits between them: PoE powered like the GRP2602G, but on Fast Ethernet ports like the GRP2602, without the Gigabit capability. That makes it the model to specify where the switch already delivers PoE and the desk’s only network need is the phone itself — no PC sharing that same drop at Gigabit speed. Running all three side by side lets each desk get PoE, Gigabit or neither, based on what its own cabling and switch port actually support.
Deployment and Management Notes
Provisioning runs over FTP/TFTP/TFTPS/HTTP/HTTPS, Grandstream’s GDMS platform and TR-069, with AES-encrypted XML configuration files for centralized management across many phones. Security covers TLS 1.3, SRTP/SDES-SRTP and 802.1X network authentication, backed by secure boot, dual firmware images and encrypted on-device storage. Server redundancy and failover keep the phone registered if the primary SIP server goes down. The unit measures 208 x 180 x 63.4 mm and weighs 670 g unboxed, 830 g packaged — lighter in the box than its GRP2602 and GRP2602G siblings since no separate power adapter ships with it — and it’s rated for 0-40°C operation and 10-90% relative humidity, standard indoor office conditions. It carries FCC Part 15B Class B and Part 68 HAC certification, CE marking under EN 55032/55035/61000-3-2/3-3/62368-1, plus RCM and IC compliance. The box includes the phone, handset with cord, base stand, a network cable and a quick installation guide.
