Grandstream GRP2612P 4-Line PoE IP Phone

The Grandstream GRP2612P is a 4-line carrier-grade IP desk phone designed to run entirely on Power over Ethernet, drawing 3.8W over the same 802.3af-capable Ethernet cable that carries its voice traffic, with no power adapter included in the box. Two SIP accounts route across four line keys and four softkeys on a 2.4-inch color TFT display, backed by 16 virtual programmable keys for extension monitoring or speed dial. Its network side runs at 10/100 Mbps rather than Gigabit, which keeps the unit priced below its GRP2612G sibling while still fitting any desk already wired for PoE, since the phone needs nothing more than a single Ethernet drop from a PoE switch or injector to power on and register.

Running the Grandstream GRP2612P Purely on PoE

Because the GRP2612P has no bundled power adapter, deployment starts with confirming the wall port feeds from an 802.3af PoE switch or a PoE injector; once connected, the phone powers on and boots from that single cable with no separate outlet needed at the desk. In daily use it handles two SIP lines through four physical line keys, supports 3-way conferencing with HD audio on the handset and speaker, and includes an RJ9 headset jack with EHS support for compatible Plantronics headsets so a call can be answered directly from the headset. The 320×240 display shows caller ID, line status and softkey labels for transfer, hold and conference actions, the same call-handling layout as the rest of the GRP2612 family.

Where the GRP2612P Fits in Saudi Offices

The GRP2612P suits Saudi offices that have already standardized on PoE switching across a floor — branch banking counters, hospital administrative desks, and government service windows where IT teams prefer to power every phone from the network closet rather than manage individual adapters and power strips at each desk. Because it skips the adapter and the Gigabit chipset, it is the lower-cost option for large PoE-fed rollouts where a desk only needs voice traffic and not a Gigabit pass-through for a workstation. Two SIP accounts and four line keys cover reception points, service counters and department extensions that need to place, hold and transfer calls without a full contact-center feature set.

GRP2612P Compared to the GRP2612G and GRP2612W

All three GRP2612 phones share the same display, four line keys, 16 VPK keys and two SIP accounts, but they differ on power and network. The GRP2612G adds dual Gigabit Ethernet ports and ships with a power adapter alongside PoE support, so it can also run from a standard outlet and pass full-speed traffic to a connected PC. The GRP2612W keeps the same 10/100 Ethernet as the GRP2612P but adds dual-band wireless connectivity and its own power adapter, letting it operate without any Ethernet cable at all. The GRP2612P is the leanest of the three: PoE-only power, 10/100 networking, and no adapter in the box, built for sites that already run PoE to every desk.

Deployment Notes

The box contains the handset and cord, a phone stand, a network cable, a quick installation guide and the GPL license documentation — no power adapter, so the installing switch or patch panel must confirm 802.3af PoE is live on the port before the phone is mounted. Security matches the rest of the GRP26 family: user and admin password protection, MD5/MD5-sess authentication, 256-bit AES encrypted configuration, SRTP and TLS for call and signalling encryption, 802.1x network authentication and secure boot. Operating temperature is rated 0-40C, suiting typical indoor office conditions across the Kingdom, and storage temperature extends to -10 to 60C for phones held in a warehouse before rollout. Physical dimensions match the rest of the GRP2612 line at 203 x 193 x 52.1 mm, with the phone alone weighing 554g and the full retail package weighing 936g including the handset, stand, cables and printed guide. Humidity tolerance is rated 10-90% RH non-condensing, wide enough for both air-conditioned offices and less controlled storage before a PoE rollout begins.
