Overview
The Grandstream GWN7806PH Pro is the high-power, high-density member of the listed GWN7800 switch family. It combines 48 Gigabit PoE RJ45 access ports with IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at, and 802.3bt support, allowing up to 60 W on an individual port and providing a 720 W shared PoE budget. Six 10G SFP+ uplinks connect the access layer to aggregation equipment, servers, or the network core. Its Layer 2++ managed design, 216 Gbps switching capacity, and stacking support suit larger installations that need coordinated growth as well as higher endpoint power. Compared with the GWN7806P, the GWN7806PH is the appropriate step when the device schedule includes higher-draw powered equipment, a larger total PoE requirement, or a plan to operate several switches as a managed stack.
High-power access with Grandstream GWN7806PH
The defining capability is power delivery across a dense access footprint. All 48 Gigabit RJ45 access ports support PoE, while IEEE 802.3bt extends the supported class beyond conventional PoE and PoE+. A ceiling of 60 W per port gives designers room for compatible endpoints with greater power demand, and the 720 W shared budget supports a broader powered estate than the lower-budget sibling. The budget remains shared, so engineers should calculate the expected and peak draw of every attached endpoint rather than assume the per-port maximum can be delivered everywhere simultaneously. This approach makes the model suitable for mixed deployments where ordinary phones and sensors share the switch with selected higher-draw cameras, wireless equipment, or other IEEE 802.3bt endpoints.
Switching and aggregation capacity
The GWN7806PH provides 216 Gbps of switching capacity, 108 Gbps of non-blocking throughput, and a forwarding rate of 160.704 Mpps. Its latency is below 4 microseconds, and its six 10G SFP+ ports prevent the 48 Gigabit access interfaces from depending on a single narrow uplink. A 32K MAC address table supports a substantial learned endpoint population, while jumbo frames of 12,288 bytes can be considered for compatible storage, server, or infrastructure traffic. The packet buffer is 8.4 Mb. These figures allow a network architect to compare the chassis with the expected mix of east-west and upstream traffic. The console interface also gives administrators a dedicated local management path during commissioning or recovery.
Stacking and continuity planning
Support for stacking up to 8 devices is a major distinction for campus, hospitality, health, education, and multi-floor commercial networks. A stack can give the operations team a more coordinated way to expand access capacity than treating every switch as an unrelated island. The model also supports an optional 800 W external redundant power system with 1+1 operation. That option is relevant where continuity requirements justify a secondary power path, but it should be planned as an optional infrastructure component rather than assumed to be part of the standard package. The switch accepts 100–240 V AC at 50/60 Hz and has a stated maximum consumption of 870.9 W, so electrical circuits, rack power distribution, heat load, and backup-power sizing deserve explicit review before installation.
Applications in Saudi facilities
In a large Saudi office or public-facing complex, the GWN7806PH can support a floor or zone containing many IP endpoints with mixed power requirements. A hotel may use it where wireless coverage, surveillance, telephony, and building-facing network devices converge in one communications room. Hospitals and clinics can apply the same density to administrative, wireless, and security networks while retaining centralized management. Universities, schools, warehouses, and logistics sites can use the six 10G uplinks to connect dense edge cabinets back to faster aggregation. Retail campuses and large showrooms may value the ability to power broad endpoint groups without introducing separate injectors at each location. Four fans provide active cooling, reinforcing the need for a ventilated equipment room rather than an occupied desktop environment.
Choosing GWN7806PH over its siblings
The GWN7806PH should be selected for power class, shared power headroom, and stack-oriented growth. The GWN7806P also offers 48 powered access ports, but it supports IEEE 802.3af/at at up to 30 W per port and has a 400 W PoE budget. The GWN7806PH adds IEEE 802.3bt, raises the individual-port ceiling to 60 W, and provides a 720 W PoE budget. Smaller GWN7801P and GWN7803P models target fewer powered connections, while the GWN7803PH brings the higher-power approach to a smaller port footprint. This model therefore fits projects where both density and higher-power delivery matter. If endpoints remain within ordinary PoE+ demand and the shared load is modest, the GWN7806P can be the more proportionate choice.
Deployment checklist and lifecycle fit
The unit can sit on a desktop or mount in a rack, though its power envelope, four fans, port density, and stacking role favor a controlled cabinet. Before procurement, verify the endpoint power schedule, 720 W budget utilization, circuit capacity, grounding, ventilation, rack depth, cable management, transceiver selection, and 10G uplink topology. If the optional redundant power system is required, reserve the electrical and rack arrangement for it in the design. The dual-core 1 GHz MIPS processor works with 512 MB RAM, 8 MB NOR flash, and 128 MB NAND flash. A stated MTBF of 70,000 hours provides a planning reference for lifecycle discussions. The included mounting and safety accessories support installation, but correct power and thermal engineering remain central to a dependable deployment.
