Overview
The Grandstream GRP2601P is the Power over Ethernet configuration in the GRP26 essential IP phone series, sharing the same 2.41-inch LCD display and two SIP accounts as the rest of the family. Instead of an external power adapter, the GRP2601P draws power directly from the network switch through integrated PoE (IEEE 802.3af Class 1, 3.84W), so a single Ethernet cable carries both data and power to the desk. That removes one cable run and one power brick from every installation, which matters most in fit-outs where cable trays are already tight or where IT standardizes on PoE switches for every endpoint. The box reflects that: at 810 g it ships lighter than the standard adapter-powered unit, because there is no universal power supply to include.
Call Handling and Audio on the Grandstream GRP2601P
The same two SIP accounts split a direct extension from a shared department line, backed by a 5-way conference and call waiting for fast internal coordination. Voice quality runs across G.711, G.729A/B, G.726, G.723.1 and iLBC for broad PBX compatibility, plus G.722 wideband and Opus when the far end supports HD audio, delivered through a full-duplex speakerphone that avoids the clipped, one-direction-at-a-time feel of half-duplex units. EHS-compatible headsets from Plantronics, Jabra, Sennheiser and similar brands connect directly to the phone for staff who spend most of the day on calls. The feature set that a busy desk depends on is unchanged: hold, transfer, forward, call park and pickup, a phonebook synced over XML or LDAP holding up to 2,000 entries, an 800-record call log, off-hook auto dial, auto answer, click-to-dial, flexible dial plans, hot-desking for shared phones, and personalized ringtones with music on hold.
Where the Grandstream GRP2601P Fits in Saudi Deployments
PoE-powered desk phones suit new office fit-outs and data-center-adjacent buildings across Saudi Arabia where the structured cabling and switch layer are planned together — a growing pattern in Riyadh and Jeddah commercial towers, contact-center floors, and multi-tenant office buildings where facilities teams standardize every desk device on PoE to simplify power planning and avoid extension cords near workstations. Because the phone has no separate power adapter, moving a desk or reconfiguring a floor plan only means re-running the network cable, not chasing an extra socket. Server redundancy and failover keep both SIP lines registered through brief server or internet interruptions, which is relevant for reception and support seats that cannot go silent during working hours.
Positioning Within the GRP26 Family
Compared with the standard GRP2601, which needs its own mains adapter and a non-PoE Ethernet port, the GRP2601P needs only a PoE-capable switch port and nothing else at the desk. The GRP2601W takes a different route again, adding Wi-Fi 6 for desks without an Ethernet drop at all while still relying on external power. The choice among the three comes down to what is already available at the installation point: an AC outlet and any switch port favors the GRP2601, a PoE switch port with no spare socket favors the GRP2601P, and a power outlet with no data cabling favors the GRP2601W.
Deployment Notes
Security carries over unchanged from the rest of the family: TLS 1.3 and SRTP/SDES-SRTP for encrypted signaling and media, 802.1X for port-based access control, and secure boot with dual firmware images and encrypted storage. Mass rollouts use FTP, TFTP, TFTPS, HTTP, HTTPS, Grandstream’s GDMS platform, or TR-069, with AES-encrypted XML configuration files so IT can push settings to every PoE-connected unit without a site visit. Operating range is 0-40°C with -10 to 60°C storage and 10-90% non-condensing humidity, matched to conditioned office space. Each unit weighs 650 g, and the 810 g package contains the GRP2601P phone, a corded handset, a base stand, a network cable and a quick installation guide — no power adapter, since the PoE switch supplies it.
