Overview
The Grandstream GRP2602G is a 2-line IP desk phone built around Gigabit Ethernet with integrated PoE, so a single cable does double duty: it feeds power to the phone and carries a Gigabit link a desk can pass straight through to a workstation. Where the standard GRP2602 needs mains power and the GRP2602P tops out at Fast Ethernet, the GRP2602G is the model built for desks sitting on a Gigabit-capable, PoE-enabled network — an IT closet with managed PoE switching does the powering, and the desk gets full Gigabit throughput at the same time. Everything else that makes the GRP26 series a practical desk phone carries over: 4 SIP accounts, 2 line keys, and a 2.41-inch backlit display for keeping calls visible at a glance.
What the Grandstream GRP2602G Delivers on the Desk
The GRP2602G runs 4 SIP accounts across 2 physical line keys on a 132 x 48 pixel (2.41″) backlit graphical LCD. Its dual 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet ports carry integrated PoE rated IEEE 802.3af Class 1 at 3.84W, drawing power directly from a PoE switch rather than a separate adapter. Voice quality spans G.722 wideband plus G.729A/B, G.711u/a-law, G.726, G.723.1, iLBC and Opus, with the HD handset and full-duplex speakerphone both carrying wideband audio. EHS headset support extends to Plantronics, Jabra, Sennheiser and other compatible headsets for hands-free answering. Call handling covers hold, transfer, forward, 5-way conference, call park, call pickup, shared/bridged line appearances (SCA/BLA), an XML/LDAP phonebook for up to 2,000 entries, call waiting, an 800-entry call log, off-hook auto dial, auto answer and click-to-dial. Flexible dial plans and hot-desking let one handset serve multiple users across shifts, the faceplate swaps out for relabeling, and ringtone and music-on-hold support round out the set.
Where the GRP2602G Fits on a Saudi Office Floor
The GRP2602G suits desks in newer or recently rewired Saudi offices where the network cabinet already runs managed PoE switching with Gigabit uplinks — corporate headquarters, IT-managed branch networks for banks and telecoms, and open-plan offices where each desk carries a workstation needing full Gigabit speed alongside the phone. Because the phone’s second Ethernet port passes Gigabit straight through, IT teams don’t need to run a second cable to the PC at that desk; the phone and computer share the same drop without the connection dropping to Fast Ethernet speeds. That combination — PoE power plus Gigabit pass-through — is what makes the GRP2602G the natural fit for data-heavy desks rather than a simple reception line.
Choosing Between the GRP2602G, GRP2602 and GRP2602P
The standard GRP2602 has no PoE and no Gigabit — it runs on the included AC adapter over Fast Ethernet, which suits desks with no PoE switching at all. The GRP2602P adds PoE but stays on Fast Ethernet ports, a fit for PoE-enabled desks where the workstation doesn’t need Gigabit throughput. The GRP2602G is the only model in this trio that combines PoE power with a Gigabit pass-through port, so it’s the one to specify wherever a desk both draws power from a PoE switch and needs full Gigabit speed to the connected PC — typically a workstation-heavy office rather than a simple reception counter. Deploying a mix of all three within one building lets each desk get exactly the phone its cabling and switch already support.
Deployment and Management Notes
Provisioning runs over FTP/TFTP/TFTPS/HTTP/HTTPS, Grandstream’s GDMS platform and TR-069, with AES-encrypted XML configuration files for centralized rollout across many desks at once. Signaling and media security cover TLS 1.3, SRTP/SDES-SRTP and 802.1X network authentication, backed by secure boot, dual firmware images and encrypted on-device storage. Server redundancy and failover keep the phone registered if a primary SIP server fails. The unit measures 208 x 180 x 63.4 mm and weighs 670 g unboxed, 880 g packaged, rated for 0-40°C operation and 10-90% relative humidity — standard indoor office conditions. It carries FCC Part 15B Class B and Part 68 HAC certification, CE marking under EN 55032/55035/61000-3-2/3-3/62368-1, plus RCM and IC compliance. The box includes the phone, handset with cord, base stand, a universal power supply, a network cable and a quick installation guide, covering both the PoE-powered setup and any desk where a PoE switch isn’t yet available.
