Overview

The Grandstream GDS3710 video door station is an IP door unit that pairs a 2-megapixel camera with a 12-key touchpad and a 125KHz RFID reader, so a visitor can be seen, heard, and let in with a card as well as a call. The 1/2.7-inch sensor delivers 1920×1080 video with wide dynamic range up to 120dB and a 180°(W) x 150°(H) lens, wide enough to frame a doorway without a second camera. Video streams over H.264 at up to 30fps, with a primary 1080p stream for recording, a secondary 1280×720 stream for SIP video calls, and a third 320×240 stream sized for a smartphone app, so the same unit serves a recorder, a desk phone, and a mobile guard without three separate feeds. Power comes from PoE (802.3af Class 3) or a 12VDC/1A adapter over the same IP66-rated, IK09 impact-resistant enclosure used across the GDS37 series.

Grandstream GDS3710 video door station in practice

Two-way audio uses a built-in microphone with acoustic echo cancellation, rated up to 1.5 meters, and a 2-watt HD loudspeaker rated up to 3 meters, so a call stays clear even with street noise nearby. The RFID reader accepts 125KHz EM4100 cards for up to roughly 2,000 recommended IDs, and the unit ships with one RFID card and one key fob so a site can start issuing credentials immediately. The 12-key touchpad and capacitive doorbell button are individually backlit, keeping the panel readable after dark without a separate light fixture. Embedded motion detection with up to four configurable privacy masks lets an installer blank out a public street or a neighbour’s window from the recorded frame, and event-triggered snapshots go out over email or FTP without needing a full NVR pull to review who called.

Where it fits on a Saudi site

A camera-and-keypad door station like the GDS3710 suits a main entrance, a residential compound gate, or an office lobby where a facilities team wants both a visual record of who called and a card-based option for residents or staff who do not need to be buzzed in every time. The wide dynamic range handles the strong backlighting typical of a Gulf entrance facing direct sun, and the -30°C to 60°C operating range with an IP66 enclosure covers an uncovered outdoor mount through summer heat. RS485 and Wiegand (26-bit) expansion let it hand off card reads to an existing access-control panel rather than acting as a closed system, which matters where a site already runs a separate door-controller brand.

Positioning against the GDS3712 and the rest of the family

The GDS3710 and GDS3712 share the same 2-megapixel sensor, lens, and 1920×1080 video, so the choice between them is not about image quality. The GDS3710 adds the 12-key touchpad, RFID reader, and Wiegand/RS485 expansion the GDS3712 does not carry, at the cost of a slightly lower IK09 impact rating against the GDS3712’s higher one. Against the entry-level GDS3702, both cameras add the visual identification the audio-only model cannot provide, and against the GDS3725/GDS3727, the GDS3710 stays at 2 megapixels and 125KHz card technology rather than the higher-resolution, AI-assisted sensor and dual-frequency reader those two models carry.

Deployment notes

The unit measures 173 x 80 x 36 mm and weighs 0.6 kg, close enough to the GDS3702’s footprint that the two can share a mounting pattern where a site standardises on one enclosure across audio-only and camera doors. The enclosure supports an optional back reinforcing metal plate for locations at higher vandalism risk, and a single PoE run carries power, video, and the SIP connection over one cable. ONVIF Profile S support means the video stream can be pulled into a third-party VMS or NVR alongside cameras from other brands rather than needing a Grandstream-only recording setup. The unit carries FCC, CE, RCM, and IC compliance markings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the GDS3710 include an RFID card?

Yes, it ships with one RFID card and one RFID key fob for 125KHz EM4100 credentials, ready to use as soon as the reader is registered.

What resolution does the camera record?

1920x1080 at up to 30fps over H.264, from a 1/2.7-inch, 2-megapixel sensor with wide dynamic range up to 120dB.

Can it integrate with an existing access-control panel?

Yes, RS485 and Wiegand (26-bit) input/output let the RFID reader hand card reads to a separate access-control system rather than only releasing the door through its own relays.

What is the difference between the GDS3710 and the GDS3712?

Both carry the same 2-megapixel camera; the GDS3710 adds the 12-key touchpad, RFID reader, and Wiegand/RS485 expansion, while the GDS3712 has a higher impact rating instead.

Can the video feed be recorded on a third-party system?

Yes, through ONVIF Profile S support.
